Oliver is almost four and is an independent little guy. In the morning he gets dressed by himself, which sometimes results in an outfit like the one in the picture. :) I think it's quite fashionable?!

Climbing Wall

Here's Oliver at the playground. His second attempt at this wall was without flaw or help. I was impressed.

Balaton

Like last year, we were blessed to have a lake cottage at our disposal for a week. Lake Balaton is an enormous lake (the largest in Europe, I think) perfect for families to enjoy the water and sun. Here are a few pics from the week:

Benjamin hanging out with the wildlife.

Besides swimming, we rode our bikes,

played in the playground,

and I'm still not sure what else.

We did have a surprise on Friday. We were able to see the Budapest Gospel Choir in concert in the neighboring village as apart of their "village days." It was great to see them perform outside with lots of people watching. It was especially fun for Oliver who got to bang on the drums a little after the show. Thanks Marci!

After Balaton, we did spend 5 days with Melinda's family in another resort village. But you'll have to wait until we get some pictures from Péter, Melinda's brother, because we didn't take any!

We are home now, but just for enough time to wash our clothes. We will be off again on Monday to our church's family conference in a village called Vajta. We'll be back on Aug 11.

Blessings! ~matthew

Vacation/Nyaralás

Just wanted to let you know that we won't have internet access until August 2. Today we're going down to Lake Balaton for a break, then we'll spend a few days with Melinda's family in a rented house.

See ya'll later! :)

Szevasztok!

Doggy-Maci

Many of you know that Oliver has a favorite little stuffed dog that we very creatively call Doggy. Oliver got him from his Aunt Jen on the day he was born. Actually, Doggy was just used to hold a balloon that Jen brought in to the hospital. Who would have thought that he would have a career like this? Doggy stays with Oliver when he is falling asleep at night and he's accompanied us on many car and plane rides.

Here is Oliver and Doggy in the hospital.
Itt van Olivér és Doggy a kórházban.

Well now Benjamin has a "Doggy" too. It's actually a teddy bear that he got from Oliver when he came to visit him in the hospital the first time. For lack of a better name, we have been calling him Maci (Teddy).

Here are the boys with their animals. Incidentally they both always suck their left thumb. Surely this can't be genetic? :)
Itt vannak a fiúk az állataikkal. Mellesleg mindketten kizárólag a bal hüvelykujjukat szopják. Ez nem lehet örökletes, ugye? :)

Children's CD

We would like to advertise a children's CD that was made by good friends of ours. It was produced here in Hungary and includes songs of different musical styles (jazz, blues, Irish, etc.) It is excellent quality and is enjoyable for kids and parents alike! Oliver just listened to it over and over again for days (and really, we didn't mind it until like the 36th listening).

The proceeds go towards the studio in Budapest where it was made. So if you buy the CD, you support the production of quality Christian music in Hungary!

Check out the link here. You can listen in to the songs and order the CD as well. Enjoy it and let us know how you liked it! :)

Doing dishes/Mosogatás

I left the kitchen for a minute and upon return this is what I saw! :)

Unloading the dishwasher is one of Oliver's chores. Because he is a big boy now, he decided that he will soon hand over his chores to Benjamin and do other, hard, manly jobs around the house. Seems like BG has taken the task seriously and is practicing already!

Kicking the habit/Leszokás

Recently we celebrated Oliver's "kicking the habit". In other words, he has been potty trained for quite a while, but only recently is he diaper-free for nights as well. I had promised him to throw a party for him when this happens. It was kind of embarrassing to order the cake, because the little card says: "Bye-bye diapers!" Maybe this all sounds a bit strange to you, but if you are a parent, I am sure you understand the significance of all this! :)

Anyone out there?/Van ott valaki?

Hi there,

Maybe there is nobody out there reading our blog any more! We don't blame you! Sorry that we have not been posting lately. We are doing fine and are quite busy with ministry and family activities.

Here are some pictures for you.

Sziasztok!
