Momma's away at a women's ministry event today so I (Matthew) get to be the pastor of this fluffy bunch.

Snack time/Uzsonna

This is how I give the boys their snack in the afternoon:

I am extremely creative, aren't I? [I have always liked this question tag form in English and don't get to use it very often, so I thought this was my chance! :)]

Anyway, a few days ago I added a new touch:

The boys were trying to figure out what the piece of pancake was there for (yes, it was leftover from breakfast!). Oliver first said it was the guy eating a carrot. (Here is the hard-core evidence that we are leading a healthy lifestyle! I am glad their first association wasn't French fries from McD! :) His second guess was him smoking a cigar (well, they have seen some people do that occasionally). They did get it right the third time: it is the guy sticking out his tongue! :)

A fiúk megpróbáltak rájönni, mi lehet az amerikai palacsintadarab a képen (igen, a reggeliből maradt meg!). Olivér első tippje az volt, hogy az emberke répát eszik. (Ímhol a kemény bizonyíték arra, hogy egészséges életmódot folytatunk! Örülök, hogy nem egy "mekis" sültkrumplira asszociált a gyerek! :) A második tippje az volt, hogy az arc szivarozik (nos, ilyet is láttak már párszor). Harmadjára már sikerült eltalálniuk: emberünk kinyújtja a nyelvét! :)

[Well, one thing Matthew forgot to mention is that in Hungarian the letter s makes the "sh" sound. Haha! :)]

Guitarist/Gitáros

Most of our readers know that among other things, Matthew is a guitar player. He often plays to the kids too.
Legtöbb olvasónk tudja, hogy Matt - többek között - a gitáros mesterséget űzi. Sokszor játszik a gyerekeknek is. 

However, if you look at the picture more closely, you can see that there are more hands involved than usual.
De ha közelebbről megnézitek a képet, láthatjátok, hogy a szokásosnál több kéz van jelen.

B&B

Nos, azért az áradáson kívül vidámabb dolgok is történtek az életünkben. Szombaton ugyanis egy esküvőre voltunk hivatalosak, amit az tett különlegessé, hogy mi tartottuk a jegyesoktatást a fiatal párnak! :) Nagy élmény és megtiszteltetés volt, hogy rendszeresen levonatoztak hozzánk Pestről: együtt vacsoráztunk, játszottunk a gyerekekkel, aztán leraktuk a lurkókat és beszélgettünk, Matt tanított és imádkoztunk, mígnem futni kellett vissza a vonathoz...

Well, thankfully there have also been happier events in our lives than the flooding. No, we didn't do a get-away in a Bed & Breakfast (maybe in a few months! :) but we attended the wedding of a dear couple, B&B. This event was all the more special because we did the pre-marital counseling for the couple! :) It was a great joy and honor as they regularly took the train down from Budapest to our house so we can have dinner together, play with the kids, then put the munchkins to bed and talk; Matt also taught and we prayed together until it was time to run and catch the train back...

Miriam készen áll a nagy alkalomra (a tündérkeruha nagyon bejött, azonban a csattok kb. 15 perc, a topánkák pedig olyan 4,5 másodperc múlva lehullottak a gyermekről - valami lányos anyuka talán felvilágosíthatna, hogy kell helyesen kezelni ezeket a számomra új szerkezeteket! :)

Miriam is ready for the big event (the princess dress was a great success - people here don't typically dress up their kids like they do in the States - but the hair clips fell off in about 15 minutes and the shoes were kept on for a rough 4.5 seconds. Some mom with girls out there can maybe enlighten me as of the  proper usage of these new gadgets! :)

Update/Hírek

Just a quick update on the basement: the raining stopped but water is still coming up through the floor. The boards had to be removed down to the concrete foundation and we need to put down new floors. Well, if Matthew had been bored, he won't be now! :) Oh well... Hope you are all staying warm and dry! :)

Csak egy gyors hír a stúdióról: az esőzés elállt, de a víz még mindig jön föl a padló alól. Fel kellett mindent szedni a betonig és új padlót lerakni. Nos, ha Matt unatkozott volna eddig, most nem fog! :) Hát ez van... Remélem, mindannyian valami meleg és száraz helyen vagytok! :)

Flood/Áradás

In Hungary the weather has been pretty rough these last few days. Rain has been coming down continuously. Fierce winds blow. It is cold. Towns have been flooded and cut off from the rest of the world.

I got our boots out again after I finally put our winter gear into storage, thinking that that particular season was over! (However, on my way of walking to the pre-school, I was thinking I should have unpacked the scarves and gloves too!) We turned the heat back on. We had the wind rip a few of our umbrellas. But the worst came today.

Our basement flooded. And in it, the studio.

Nos, magyarországi olvasóinknak nem kell ecsetelnem a kis hazánkat jellemző időjárási viszonyokat. Ami minket érint, előkotortam megint a csizmákat, amiket nemrég raktároztam el a téli cuccokkal, gondolván, hogy vége ennek a bizonyos évszaknak! (Bár az óvodába menet az utcán azon gondolkodtam, a sálakat és a kesztyűket is elő kellett volna bányásznom!) Visszakapcsoltuk a fűtést. A szél szétszaggatta pár esernyőnket (OK, hogy olcsó kínai cuccok voltak, dehát egy esernyő fogyóeszköz amúgy is, nem?) De a legrosszabb ma következett.


A pincénket elöntötte a víz. És benne a stúdiót.

 (OK, I know that you can't tell in the picture that the room is flooded, but you have to believe me, the room is (was) flooded! :)
(OK, tudom, hogy nem látszik a képen, hogy áll a padlón a víz, de hinnetek kell nekem, áll(t) a padlón a víz! :)

Thankfully, the rescue squad was on its way in no time!

Feeding/Etetés

Tolatás/Reverse

Miriam egyedüli közlekedési módja jelenleg (a babakocsin és a karjainkon kívül) a kúszás. Mégpedig hátrafelé! :) Ez elég általános dolog a gyerekeknél, de nekem mégis mindig nagyon vicces. Sokszor így találok rá, hogy betolatott az ágy végébe (vagy épp a kanapé vagy a szekrény lábához) és nem tud tovább menni. :)

Miriam's only mode of transportation at this point (besides the stroller and our arms, that is) is scooting. And she does it backwards! :) This happens a lot with kids, but I always get a kick out of it. Many times I find her having backed up to the end of the bed (or the legs of the couch or the wardrobe) and getting stuck. :)

Cuncókámnak vagy kéne egy nagyobb ágy, vagy meg kéne tanulnia lassan egyesbe kapcsolni! :)
The little Pumpkin either needs a bigger bed or she needs to learn how to shift into first gear! :)

Ezzel kapcsolatos hír, hogy Miriam pár napja átköltözött a bátyók szobájába! Ők már régóta lobbiztak ezért, de eddig vonakodtam, merthogy fel fogja őket ébreszteni, ha sír, stb. De eddig jól mennek a dolgok és élvezik a bandázást! :)

An update related to this topic is that Miriam moved into her brothers' bedroom a few days ago! They had been lobbying for this for a long time, but I was reluctant, thinking she would wake them up when she cries, etc. But so far things have been going well and they enjoy hanging out together! :)

Fű/Grass

Nő a fű a kertünkben!!!/The grass is growing in our yard!!!

Így néz ki kis kertecskénk jelenleg. Akik látták az "eredeti változatot" tudják, hogy ez egy hatalmas fejlődés ahhoz képest! :)
This is what our place looks like now. Those who saw the "original version" know that this is indeed a huge improvement! :)
