I wanted to impress my hubby when I saw this shirt in a second-hand clothing store, discounted and smiling at me... I just couldn't resist!
Well, he WAS kind of impressed...meaning he just stared at the shirt and asked: "Who ARE the Indiana Braves??" (What do I know??) Any Hoosiers out there who have heard of them? Or are the Chinese as ignorant about American teams as I am? :)

Milk - Tej
As Miriam is past one year, we started her on milk. She loves it! She downed the first bottle like she had been waiting for that all her life! :) I think she would drink gallons of it if we didn't limit her consumption!

What was it that Miriam picked up off the ground, put it in her mouth, which made me (an otherwise not germ-freak mom of three "I am very dirty in the summer and loving it" kids) grab that something out of her mouth really quickly and rush towards the bathroom for a thorough hand- and mouth-wash?
If you have self-control (for example you can read a book without looking at the ending first :), guess before you read on!
Na?
Well?
So, those of you were right who typed the word SLUG into the comments (or maybe shouted it at your computer screen, thus receiving shocked looks from your co-workers/family members)!!! Yes, this was what our sweet daughter picked up and put in her mouth! I don't know about you, but I can touch a worm or swat any bug (of course with a newspaper or maybe a shoe), but a slug (in Hungarian: a naked snail!) is somehow so disgusting!!! And what I hadn't known before is that the gross slimy blah DOESN'T COME OFF your child's body with a soapy wash, not even a rub! So I undressed the baby, put her in the tub, got the little brush and scraped the slime (gently) off! Oh, the tender and intimate moments of motherhood! Loving it! :))

What makes my brother (and Matthew and me) ride our bikes in the rain to the corn field at the end of the village and take pictures?
Those with good eye-sight may have spotted it in the previous picture, but here is a close-up:
Ah, so romantic! :) - Tömény romantika :)

Family Park
One of the highlights of our vacation was when we went to an amusement park in Austria. This was my brother and his wife's birthday gift for our boys (I couldn't have thought of a better one :) and since we happened to go on my birthday, it was my gift too a little bit.
Néhány képet a tesómtól nyúltam le, mivel az adott helyen én mondjuk éppen az életbenmaradásomért küzdöttem (míg elsőszülött fiacskám többször is visszament a legdurvább helyekre - hihetetlenül bevállalós kiscsákó! :).
I took some of the pictures from my brother, as on some of the rides I was just concentrating on staying alive (whereas my firstborn went back several times to the most scary rides - he is a brave little guy! :).

Szentpéterfa
Last week we spent a few days with my parents and my brother's family in a small town near the Austrian border. Actually, it was so much so near the border that we stayed in Hungary but over the house's fence it was Austria. The kids particularly enjoyed entering another country several times, where the language, the road signs and even the houses are different. For us, adults, it was still amazing to walk, drive, or ride our bikes through what used to be the Iron Curtain without being stopped, asked questions or at least having our passports stamped. It is strange to think that just a few decades ago many people risked or even lost their lives here trying to flee from bondage to freedom. Now what stands there is an empty building and the signs reminding us that indeed, not too long ago, this was the much desired, yet dreaded reality.
Here are some pictures to document our vacation (more to follow hopefully).
Íme néhány kép, melyek dokumentálják a nyaralást (reményeim szerint lesz még fent több is).
Our almost-four-year-old ready to cross the border on his bike.
A majdnem négy éves fiúcskánk éppen átbringázik a határon.
In Austria, we conquered a castle. Some of the family drove and some rode their bikes. Oliver was in the latter team, riding about 40 kilometers (24.8 miles) that day!!! He loved every minute of it and we were so proud of him! :)
The kids also conquered a playground. No knowledge of German is required in their world! :)
On the way back, entering Hungary
Visszafelé, belépő kis hazánkba
Back in Hungary, we visited a small museum about the Iron Curtain. All the things from the past regime were collected by this one guy who is the owner of the museum. He was a border guard in the 60s (which doesn't mean he supported the communist system, as army service was compulsory for all men - at the height of the regime I think it was three years! - and they were placed at random spots all over the country, many times the farthest possible from their families) and is passionate about sharing this piece of history with anyone who may care to look and listen.

- Bubbles!
As I mentioned earlier, the bubble party was canceled at Oliver's pre-school graduation because of the rainy weather. However, some time after that we went to the birthday party of a local (and very cool) playground, where nothing stood in the way of the bubbles!
Megérkezett a tűzoltóautó - The fire truck has arrived
Először be lehetett szállni - First the kids could get in
Aztán megérkeztek a buborékok! :)
Then the bubbles came! Oliver was among the first ones to run into the foam - OK, I actually think he was THE first screaming kid followed by many others! :)
ÉN is bemenjek ide??
ME going in here?? But this is strange...and wet...and foamy too!
Köszi, de inkább maradok a nézelődésnél! - I'll stick to being an observer, thank you!
Nomeg játszom egyet - And of course play some
Király az élet! - Fun, fun, fun!
A bulin voltak klassz játékok is, amikkel kincseket lehetett gyűjteni és beváltani mindenféle nasira meg kacatra.
They had cool games as well, where the kids could collect treasures and exchange them for snacks and knick-knacks.
Oliver's favorite game: archery! I think if the party hadn't ended, he would still be standing there with a bow and arrow in his hands! Here comes your hunting buddy, Grandpa!!! :)

Price - Ár
Making a birthday cake with three kids around has its price ... regarding the state of the kitchen! But hey, at least she was happy and I did do most of the messing around figuring out how to make things from scratch wondering where the boxed, ready-made cake mixes and frosting are that American recipes call for professional cake-making process while they were in bed! :) I know, for many of you, making such a cake (see birthday post) is not a big deal but for me it is! The boys have already submitted their requests for their cakes (due in September). I'd better work on my skills so I don't let them down!

Summer time - Nyáridő
How is your summer going? Ours is hot and action-filled! We are going to different places, visiting friends, cooling off at lakes and such. Here are two pictures about how the kids pass the time in the car:
Hogy telik a nyaratok? A miénk forró és mozgalmas! Sokat megyünk erre-arra, barátokat látogatunk, hűsölünk mindenféle vizek mellett és hasonlók. Íme két kép arról, hogyan töltik a gyerekek az időt a kocsiban:
A rare moment: two kids are sleeping peacefully and quietly at the same time!
Ritka pillanat: kettő gyermek alszik békésen és csendben egyszerre!
Our big boy doesn't sleep any more; he is writing. But what?
A nagyfiú már nem alszik, hanem írogat. De vajon mit?
Well, his newest hobby is to look for the country codes on different vehicles and jot them down in his notebook. Here is his collection so far - if you are a non-European reader, you can test yourself and see how many European countries you can identify! So here it goes: D, NL, SK, CZ, SRB, UA, F, RUS, CH, GB, I, E, H, PL, RO, B, BG, A, DK, S. Maybe the winner can get a melted Hungarian chocolate bar in the mail! :)

Strings attached - Húrozás
Things go a lot faster (or at least in a more interesting way...) when you have helpers around!
