Our new friend/Új barátunk

This is what we found in our yard last night! It rained during the day, which was probably why our little friend came out. Oliver held it without any hesitation, Benjamin liked it too but didn't wish to get in close contact (and yes, you guessed it, I also turned down the tempting offer to hug the slimy little creature! :) Benjamin talked about the experience all night: he calls frogs simply "b" (as in béka in Hungarian), so he was sitting in the bathtub saying "b...b...b" excitedly and pointing outside. Very cute! :)

Here is a close-up of Mr. Froggy. Beautiful brown eyes, eh? (I mean Oliver's, not the frog's, haha! :)
Itt egy közeli kép béka pajtásról. Gyönyörű barna szemek, nem? (Mármint Olivéré, nem a békáé, haha!!! :)

PS: We have a biologist friend who knows a lot about frogs. So Brandon, if you are reading this and have any insights into who our little neighbor is, let us know! :)

Hi M&M!

A welcome visitor, indeed :)
Your new friend, by the looks of it, is a 'Green Toad'/'Zöld Varangy' (Bufo viridis)
He/she should help keep the bugs out of your garden - if you hear a long, chirping sound (~30 seconds long), you'll know he's a male looking for love in Tatabanya!
Your friend,
Brandon

Thanks, Brandon! I think we'll call him Bufo then. :) I think it's a male because he was chirping in Oliver's hands too! But maybe that was his "Help me! This kid is mean to me!" cry...

Can a Hungarian frog and an American frog speak to each other without an interpreter??

I love these pictures. They look like they are having a great time. Hope Oliver didn't squeeze the frog too much! Grandma
