Bár a segítők tömege hazament, azért a munka nem áll meg! Kis családunk négyes csapata folytatja a projektet. Matt és Olivér szedi a cserepeket a tetőről, leeresztik vödörben, én meg elrakodom (meg persze szedjük a cserkót is közben...nyamm! :).

Although the crowd of helpers have left, the work continues! The team of four, i.e, our little family, carries on the project. Matthew and Oliver take the tiles off the roof, they send them down in a bucket and I unload them (in the meantime we are picking the cherries too..yumm! :)És hogy mit csinál Benjámin? Ó, ő is igen keményen dolgozik...öhm, elsősorban a koszossági verseny fődíjáért, amit meg is ítéltünk neki! :)

And what is Benjamin doing? Well, uhm, he is working hard too...on winning the competition entitled Who is the Dirtiest Child Ever. Without a doubt, he gets the prize! :)

Megkezdődött a munka!/The work has begun!

Ahogy említettük, nagy fába vágtuk a fejszénket: szeretnénk átalakítani a kertünket betondzsungelből valami szebbé! Ez azért nem kis munka, jól jön a segítség...Hát szombaton volt segítségünk, az biztos! Az egész úgy kezdődött, hogy egy pesti barátunk, Dani, jött vasárnap tanítani a gyülibe és Matt ajánlotta, hogy aludjon itt szombaton. Mondta neki, hogy jöhet korábban is, de mi szeretnénk a kerten is dolgozni aznap. Pár nappal később Dani visszahívta, hogy jön szombaton, de még hozna magával úgy 25 embert, akik jönnek segíteni meg délután fiatalokkal beszélgetni a parkban és ifiórát tartani! Ööö, rendben, jöjjenek csak! :) Őrült nap volt, de nagyon klassz volt együtt dolgozni!

As I have mentioned, we have embarked on a big adventure: we would like to transfer our yard from a concrete jungle into something nice! This is no small task; we need all the help we can get...well, on Saturday we had help for sure! The whole thing started when a friend of ours from Budapest, Dani, was going to come to teach at our church on Sunday. Matthew offered him that he could come on Saturday and spend some time with us but he also mentioned how he was going to work on the yard that day. Well, in a few days Dani called and said that he could come on Saturday and bring around 25 people to help plus do an outreach and youth event at the park! Wow, OK, let them come, the more the merrier! :) It was a crazy day but it was great to work together!

Igyekeztem megörökíteni a munka főbb állomásait:
I tried to document the main phases of the project:

Cserepek leszedése a tetőről (ezt az épületet szeretnénk majd lebontani)
Taking the tiles off the roof (this is the building we'd like to demolish)
A cserepek lecsúszdáznak a tetőről, a szorgos munkások félrerakják a még használható cserepeket (Bocsi, Dani, remélem, nem gáz, hogy feltettem ezt a képet! :)

Betegség/Illness

Az elmúlt pár napban mind a négyen átestünk egy ilyen torokgyulladásos izén. Olivér már túl van a nehezén, most Benjámin jön szegény! Íme elsőszülöttemmel folytatott mai beszélgetésem:

O: Fáj a torkom.
M: Sajnálom, drágám.
O: Úgy érzem, hogy a hangszálaim el vannak törve.
M (próbálok nem feltűnően mosolyogni): Értem.
O: A szívem is fáj.
M: A szíved??
O: Igen. Mintha egy madár lenne benne.
M: Ö, aha. És hol fáj a szíved?
O (mutatja): Itt a fejemben. A fejem is fáj.

Ebből mindenki, aki járt már az orvosi egyetem közelében, egyértelműen diagnosztizálhatja, hogy gyermekemnek torokgyulladása van (nomeg azt, hogy fantáziában nem szenved hiányt)! :)

In the past few days we have all been battling a strep throat kind of thing. Oliver is over the worst part, now it's Benjamin's turn! Here is the translation of a dialog I had with my firstborn today:

O: My throat hurts.
M: I am sorry, darling.
O: I think my vocal cords are broken.
M (trying not to smile too big): I see.
O: My heart hurts too.
M: Your heart??
O: Yes. Like there is a bird in it.
M: Uhm, OK. And where does your heart hurt?
O (pointing to his head): Here in my head. My head hurts too.

I am sure, after reading this, everyone who has been near a medical school can diagnose that my child has strep throat (and a great imagination too)! :)

Gellért hegy/hill

One of the most beautiful sights of Budapest is the Gellért hill. A few weeks ago we went on a walk with my family. However, with three little kids we were not heading for the statues, but for something else: the playground with the big slides!

Pár hete kedves fővárosunk egyik híres látnivalója, a Gellért hegy felé vettük az irányt családommal. A három kisgyerkőc miatt azonban nem a szobrokat céloztuk meg, hanem valami egészen mást: a nagy csúszdákat! (Voltatok már ott? Nagyon klassz hely! :)

As you can see, Benjamin didn't have any fears either! :) The three of them went down the slides about 453 times I think, just occasionally stopping for a sip of water. Wish I had half of their energy! :)

Amint látjátok, Benjámint sem kellett félteni! :) A három fiú összesen vagy 453-szor ment le a csúszdákon és csak pár percre álltak meg, hogy egy korty vizet legurítsanak, aztán irány vissza! Bárcsak fele annyi energiám lenne mint nekik! :)

Az új fiú/The new boy

I had a meeting yesterday, so I left this little boy home with his dad:
Tegnap megbeszélésem volt, így ezt a kisfiút az apukájára bíztam:

Upon return, this is the little guy I found!
Jaaaj, mi történt?? :) Most komolyan, ideje volt már a nyári hajvágásnak, de azért még furcsa...szokom a látványt!

Oh my, what happened?? Seriously, it was high time for a summer haircut, but it's still strange...I am getting used to it!

Eating out/Kint eszünk

Mostanában ugye igen meleg van, így egyik este elhatároztuk, hogy kint eszünk. Míg vártak a kajára, a fiúk egy kis beszélgetéssel múlatták az időt. Ez egy új, javított változata az előző párbeszédnek, amit itt láthattok (a harmadik kérdés: Ki a hősöd/példaképed?)

Recently it's been quite hot, so one evening we decided to eat out, i.e. eat outside. :) As the boys were waiting for their food, they carried out this little conversation, which is the improved version of the previous one that you can see here.

Aztán ahogy leültünk, el is kezdett csöpögni az eső. Akkor most bemenjünk? Á, inkább költözzünk be a garázsba! (Terveink szerint úgysem áll már sokáig itt ez a tákolmány)

Then as soon as we sat down, it started to rain. Should we move inside then? No, let's move into the garage instead! (Especially since we are planning to demolish this shed very soon)

Strawberry fields forever...

This week we went strawberry picking to a nearby town called Vértesszőlős (this is a good one for you English speakers out there to practice! :). Grandma Julia (a.k.a. Nagyi) also came with us. We had a great time even though we didn't pick a lot of strawberries since there were hardly any ripe ones. However, the ones we picked half-ripe got nice and red at home in a day.

Pár napja elmentünk epret szedni Vértesszőlősre. Juli nagyi is itt volt velünk. Nagyon jól éreztük magunkat annak ellenére, hogy alig volt érett eper, így nem szedtünk túl sokat. De amiket féléretten leszedtünk, azok is beértek itthon másnapra.

Here is the best strawberry picker in the group! Seriously, Oliver maybe ate five berries and just worked hard the whole time...

Íme a csoport élmunkása! :) Olivér tényleg kb. öt szem epret fogyasztott el, és csak szedte, szedte bele a kosarába...Others in the group, however, spent most of their time eating and getting really dirty! :)
Kis csapatunk más tagjai azonban inkább azzal voltak elfoglalva, hogyan ehetnek minél többet és válhatnak minél koszosabbá! :)

Postcript/Utóirat

I realized that there are no photos of the kids in the last post. Apologies to the grandmas; we'll make up for that soon! :) You probably have also noticed that it's been me (Melinda) posting most of the time. Soon you'll see the reason why: Matthew will explain what he has been up to recently.

Észrevettem, hogy az előző bejegyzésben nem voltak fotók a gyerekekről. Főleg a nagyiktól kérek elnézést, hamarosan pótolni fogjuk a hiányt! :) Azt is biztos észrevettétek, hogy mostanában mindig én (Melinda) írok. Ennek is megvan a magyarázata, Matt nemsokára beszámol arról, mit is csinál mostanában.

Local discoveries/Felfedezések házunk táján

Recently we found another nice park not far from our house. This is what it looks like. Not bad, eh? (Oliver took the picture and now I am sorry that we didn't swim in to remove that plastic bottle in the middle of the photo...oh well, next time! :)

Nemrégiben találtunk még egy szép parkot nem messze tőlünk. Így néz ki. Nem is rossz, ugye? (Olivér fényképezett és most már sajnálom, hogy nem úsztunk be kihalászni azt a flakont a fotó közepéről...na majd legközelebb! :)

The theater of Tatabánya is being remodelled here. When it's finished and we get a chance to see a play, we'll write a review for you!

Tatabánya doesn't have a reputation of being a beautiful city, but it's actually not that bad after all! :) Come visit us!
